A great place to rent with lots of extras, the staff was fantastic including my buddy “Cesar”, would definitely recommend this as a vacation rental. The pool was a fantastic relief after doing all of the tours that we did, although the beach is only a short distance from the house. Sabrina will make sure that you have a fabulous time-must have a massage as soon as you get there to unwind.

We had our wedding at the Discovery Beach House and it was a truly amazing experience. If you’re looking for a beach wedding location in Manuel Antonio, I highly recommend doing it here.
The house itself is lovely and comfortable; the perfect gathering place for our large group of friends and family. We spent a lot of time hanging out by the pool, in the hot tub, and on the back patio. Its proximity to the beach can’t be beat! It was so nice to be able to lounge by the beach and make the short walk into the house to grab a drink or use the restroom. It felt like we had our own private section of the beach behind the house.
The staff here is amazing! We hosted gatherings at the house for several days, including the wedding, and they were excellent about accommodating us with a smile. They offer 24-hour security and assistance, which was an excellent feature. We felt safe being outside at night and well attended (Juan was there to unlock an accidentally locked door at 1 a.m.
We wanted a beach wedding with a more authentic and personalized experience than a resort and Discovery Beach House was simply perfect! We’re so happy we chose to have our wedding weekend here. It was AMAZING!

Dear Discovery Beach House, where to start?
We had such an awesome time! It’s rare that in a week we have made many friends here in Costa Rica. Everyone has been so hospitable that we feel like we’re all friends and family and not Guests and Employees.
This is definitely our #1 vacation so far. We didn’t want to leave and we’ll be back for sure.
Evelyn and David – we’re so blessed to have had the opportunity to stay in your beautiful home. Your home is a very special place. It was great to have you both over for the 1st of many vacations here. I’m thinking we can’t wait to see you again. You both have created a place to make many memories.

This house is so clearly loved not only by the owners and the staff that cares for it, but by the wildlife that loves spending time there as well. The house is amazing, located right on the best beach with a very large pool we found ourselves drawn to after every outing. It is located near many amazing restaurants that have some great views – yet also delivers for those nights we just wanted to enjoy our time in the house itself. We saw two kinds of monkeys, iguanas of all sizes, an adorable sloth that hung out all week and many many birds. The landscaping is so lush and beautiful and the staff dares not let a leaf fall out of place.
Speaking of the staff, they were all so warm and friendly and helped us spot animals in the trees and were available to help with any questions we had. The concierge service was a huge bonus – having someone in another country you can count on to assist with not just the travel and tours, but with any issues that arose along the way prior to and during our stay. I could go on and on, but will instead end with saying this exceeded all our expectations.

From the moment that our group arrived until the moment that we left a week later, we were in paradise. After our drive with Ronald from San Jose, Sabrina, our lovely hostess, greeted us upon arrival with a smile that lasted the entire week. Everyone on Sabrina’s team, especially Juan, our fantastic chef and Manuela, the angel who cleaned up every morning after us, were beyond words. One of the highlights each day was returning to the house after a day out and finding the towel origami that Manuela had created for us on our beds.
The house was gorgeous-tastefully decorated, clean, airy, so close to the beach, and safe. We never had to worry about anything. A forgotten key? A question about the AC unit? A call to Sabrina and everything was set.
The location was perfect for us. Every morning, we could stumble to the beach, rent a beach chair and enjoy a local breakfast (with margarita, of course) and plan the rest of our day. Back to the house for a quick dip in the pool, we would spend the afternoon relaxing on the terrace and then get ready for whatever we had planned for the afternoon. Finally, after dinner and a night out, we retired back to the house for a quick hot tub fix before heading to bed.
The Manuel Antonio/Quepos area is gorgeous- rich in culture and entertainment. With the beach at our fingertips and the rain forest nearly just as close, we had so much to fill our days. I recommend taking the bus into Quepos to do some exploring like a local-great produce at the market (La Feria), fresh meat from the butchers in town, great conversation with residents.
Sabrina knows everyone! A few in our group wanted to have a fun night out in town. She put us in touch with Lisa, the bartender at Karma, one of the local bars (with great drinks and great decor) and Diego, a friend of hers who knew what was happening in town and knows all about the nightlife. Diego palled around with us for the remainder of our trip-showing us around, answering questions, even making dinner for us one night!

Our entire family had an amazing wonderful time. I am very finicky, but this vacation was perfect. There were days when we alternated sitting by the pool and then walking to the ocean. Other days, we went on adventures such as zip lining, visiting the park, white water rafting, a jungle tour and an estuary tour. Also, what made this vacation special was the staff. They are completely friendly and were dedicated to making our stay the best experience possible. We have traveled throughout the world. This is a very special place.

We spent a wonderful week and a half at this house. I was nervous in advance, since I had never rented a vacation home online without seeing it. Thankfully it exceeded everyone’s expectations. The house was exactly as pictured with the gorgeous infinity pool and beach just steps away. We also loved seeing the monkeys playing in the trees each afternoon.
The amenities were lovely and the service provided was terrific! We had daily housekeeping (including laundry!) and a fabulous concierge who took care of all our arrangements. No calling for a taxi or booking a zip line or any outing – it was all handled with no effort on our part.
Never have I rented a property that so completely and proactively addressed our every need, desire, and want as Discovery House. I’m going to go out on a whim here and say that I think the property owners have been supported by someone similar to these property managers in jacksonville fl, because the whole process was so easy and straightforward. It was available when we wanted it, and everything was just right. It was amazing. I wonder if the owners have any other properties for rent, as I’d definitely move into one. As a group of graduating medical students, we had no expectations and simply wanted to relax in paradise. What followed can only be described as the most pleasant of surprises.
First, the house itself is a mixture of modernity and Swiss Family Robinson tree house adventure. We had WiFi access, television (which we rarely watched), stoves, microwave, dishwasher, laundry services, air conditioning, locked safe, gated entrance with security, and all the working gadgets “needed” for traditional comforts. The bedrooms and living areas were spacious and decorated with polished wood and monkeys ornaments; pictures of the owners’ previous orangutan friendships adorned the upper wall. The master bedroom resembled a luxurious 18th century English guest room, the shower and bathtub large enough to fit 4 or 5 people. Looking outside, the entire house was surrounded by carefully manicured yet explosive foliage of the rain forest, complete with signs depicting plant species names. A step into the backyard led from Jacuzzi to infinity pool, overlooking the Pacific Ocean with accompanying color lighted Moai of Eastern Island. Their presence is appropriate as metaphor to the remarkable feeling of incredulity one is overwhelmed with as you step directly into the sand and ocean surrounded by monkeys, lizards, hermit crabs, and sloths. No other rental properties we could find provided such proximity and ease of beach access in Manuel Antonio, certainly not at the price provided for this gem of a house. Of course, before we were able to rent this property we did have to go through a screening process that involved completing several background checks. However, this was no more invasive than the checks that rental property owners in the US complete on potential tenants in line with AAOA guidelines. You can never be too safe as a rental property owner after all.
I have not one bad thing to say about this beautiful house and the amazing staff that they have working there, such friendly people and very accommodating to your every want and need. Sabrina is the best. She was there from start to finish and was very informative on the ins and outs of everything. Everything inside the house is superb and I instantly was in awe when I saw all the African artifacts that Evelyn had in the house, as I am a huge fan of African tribal history. The back was the best. It is so lush and green with daily monkey visits that will blow your mind. I could go on and on about how amazing this place is. It’s top notch and with the amazing staff it made it very hard to leave. Will most definitely be back next February and the next…and so on.

That we share a love of Africa makes your stay at our Discovery Beach House very special. When we moved to Costa Rica from California we tenderly packed each artifact – but not one stick of furniture! Having you appreciate these particular details means a lot to us. It’s also gratifying for all of us to hear you say that our staff is amazing. They’ve really developed an extraordinary knack for pampering our guests in paradise. Stay tuned for more surprises in store for you next year!
Oh my…where to begin…a little slice of paradise. Discovery Beach House is the perfect spot for relaxing, enjoying the pool and Jacuzzi, watching the monkeys and other wildlife and being treated like royalty by the best staff imaginable! The grounds and surroundings are gorgeous and lovingly tended…and the private access from the house to what must be one of the top five most beautiful beaches anywhere is a 30 second stroll down a path of lush greenery and flowers. While one is loath to leave this place at all there are many activities within a short distance…Vacation Buggy tours, sunset sails, rainforest adventures, and horseback riding are just a few exciting ways to further explore the experience that is Costa Rica. Your concierge Sabrina is always available to take care of your every need as is the staff at the house…they are wonderful!! We are truly privileged that owners Evelyn and David have allowed others to enjoy the magic that is Discovery Beach House.

Sharing the “magic” with guests like you makes our lives all the sweeter. Our staff is still smiling from ear-to-ear from seeing the joy on your faces each day as you appreciated the many creative ways they invented to make your experience with us personal and unique to you. We’re all very touched by your kind words (sniff). Excuse me – while I go give each one of them a well-deserved big hug.
TripAdvisor Review: January 27, 2013 for a stay in January 2013
This vacation far exceeded our expectations. Our communication with Sabrina, the concierge, in our pre-trip planning was thorough and definitely friendly and extremely helpful. She certainly made everything work without a hitch from our first ride with Harold, who was so much fun, to the last sunset.
The house was perfect for us. It was welcoming, clean, comfortable, interesting and lovely. The helpful, efficient staff kept the house and grounds in excellent condition including the fabulous pool and hot tub. Every late afternoon Cesar or Juan would eagerly announce the visits of the squirrel, Capuchin and/or howler monkeys as they played in our trees. Cesar even spotted a sloth which we watched for possible movement each day.
I would highly suggest at least one meal prepared by Desiree. Our meal the day of arrival was delicious! The Vacation Buggy Tour with Don was informative and adventurous as we went into the rain forest for the Jungle and Waterfall tour where we (well, some of us) crossed a fabulous suspension bridge to get to a lovely swimming area under a waterfall. The next day’s Monkey Estuary Tour was full of laughs, was educational and had lovely scenery. We definitely had a “monkey” experience which is exactly what we wanted.
Our location was central to all our needs. The lovely beach was right out our back door and the ocean water was perfect. We walked to Manuel Antonio National Park for a 1/2 day hike and a small grocery store and some restaurants were within walking distance. We had taxis take us to our evening dinner spots which were just a couple miles away.
We wanted an adventurous family vacation with wildlife sightings (and interactions) 🙂 that would be educational and relaxing. We wouldn’t have changed a thing.
